About Me…

After doing some painting in high school Grant took a 22 year break from painting as raising a family and other hobbies used up most of his time. However, the covid pandemic proved to be the catalyst he needed to get in front of the easel again. As one painting led to another he soon found it crucial to his peace of mind to be immersed in the creative process of idea finding, composition, colour theory and finally applying paint to canvas. Based in Rossland BC, Grant uses the ample scenery and vistas of southern BC and Alberta’s Rocky Mountains as reference and inspiration for his paintings, Grant paints in both oil and acrylic mediums.

“I grew up in the mountains of Jasper National Park. After graduating from university with a commerce degree (perhaps the farthest thing from an education in the arts) I spent some time living and traveling in Mexico and South America. Once I arrived back in Canada and found myself in a cubicle I realized that I was missing the mountains terribly. When the opportunity to live in the Kootenays presented itself I jumped at it. 13 years later I have no regrets and am grateful to live in this beautiful area. Also grateful to have a supportive wife and two kids who love ‘critiquing’ my paintings!”
